Houston Chronicle interviews Christopher Denny

“Denny’s journey was a particularly bumpy self-destructive one. He came out the other side with his life in tact and, to answer the question above, he found a dozen new songs that make up “If The Roses Don’t Kill Us,” his first new album in seven years and a brilliant one at that.

Denny opens the album with “Happy Sad,” a song about the yin/yang balance between the way songs get written and they way they get received. “I got a song that’s happy and sad,” he sings. “Part of it’s good and part of it’s bad.”

Alive and well, Denny answered a few questions about the rocky run that led to his new bunch of “Roses.”
