DEER TICK ANNOUNCES THIRD ALBUM, THE BLACK DIRT SESSIONS, OUT JUNE 8TH
February 24th. 2010.

Recorded late last year at Black Dirt Studios in upstate New York, The Black Dirt Sessions is a deeply personal record from Deer Tick and most especially from lead vocalist and songwriter John McCauley. It is the sound of a band coming into its own, finding its voice and pouring its collective heart out.

Tickheads will be the first to hear the first single from the album. Sign up here to be included in the exclusive sneak peak: http://www.partisanrecords.com/deertick/streetteam/street.html

Album pre-orders will begin on April 12th at the Partisan Records Store.

PARTISAN SIGNS JBM, ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR NOT EVEN IN JULY
January 14th 2010.

"Beautiful, heartfelt songs." - NPR

"The album is a haunting and beautiful collection of songs that bring to mind a little Jose Gonzalez, early Red House Painters, and yes, even early-era James Taylor." - WXPN

"One of the most impressive and significant albums of the entire year" - Daytrotter

On April 13th, Jesse Marchant, will release his hauntingly beautiful debut album, Not Even in July, on Partisan Records.

Jesse Marchant, who records under his initials JBM, was born and raised in Montreal and the Adirondacks but spent most of his adult life living in both Los Angeles and New York City. Classically trained in guitar from the age of 7, Marchant only recently immersed himself back into music writing lyrics, singing and recording. Made in just two weeks but embodying a meticulous and carefully crafted sound that could take a lifetime to achieve, Marchant put together a collection of ten heartfelt compositions that billow, ripple and glide by softly with measured persistence and spectral beauty. Released last year on his website and through iTunes -who put the record on their best of 2009 list, the album garnered immediate buzz from the likes of NPR and Daytrotter.

Not Even in July was recorded by engineer Henry Hirsch, who after hearing some of JBM's early demos invited him to his breathtaking 19th Century church studio in Hudson, NY. Although much of the album's lyrical content came from his time on the west coast, it was the tranquil and introspective environment where the album was recorded that creates the rich textures, echoing timbre, and profound atmosphere found on this entrancing compilation of music.

In recent months, JBM has opened for Elvis Perkins in Dearland, St. Vincent, The Tallest Man on Earth and Blind Pilot. JBM is currently on a national tour with Sondre Lerche.

As the title would suggest, Deer Tick's More Fuel for the Fire EP tops off an explosive 2009 for the band that released Rolling Stone's "country-rock breakthrough of the year" nine months earlier. Taken mostly from a month-long recording session in upstate New York nicknamed "The Black Dirt Sessions", More Fuel for the Fire features three new studio tracks as well as a live version of "Straight Into A Storm" (from Born on Flag Day) recorded in Charlotte, NC at the Visulite Theatre. The songs have become staples of Deer Tick's live shows over the past year, and are already fan favorites-and that's who this one's for...

ALL NEWS IS GOOD NEWS
September 14th. 2009.

Well who has two thumbs and is updating (almost) monthly? Partisan Records, thatıs who.

First of all, Deer Tick's Born on Flag Day will be getting an official release date in the UK of October 13th! We would like to thank all of you who couldn't wait this long and ordered from us, but for those who have been waiting patiently, now is your time to reap in the benefits. The EU release will be CD/LP. If you are a variant junky and want the "special edition" which is currently available, you can only get that through the US. Otherwise, we hope you all enjoy!

This also means that yes, Deer Tick is doing a European tour slated for November 24th thru December 12th. You can check out the shows section of the site for that and to get more information on the Partisan Records Fall Tour.

"Partisan Records fall tour", you say? Yes, yes we did and we could not be more excited about the line-up which includes: Deer Tick, Christopher Denny and the Natives, Holy Sons, Dolorean and Paleo. Once again, you can go to the shows section and check out where on the East Coast these wayward sons will be blowing through.

"But who's Chris Denny and the Natives?" Well folks, we at Partisan Records are pleased to announce that Chris Denny is the newest edition to the family, and we cannot wait to get his new album out to you fine people. He has just finished recording at Black Dirt Studios in upstate New York. The initial tracks we have heard are astounding and his record is going to blow you away!

That's it for now, Go see some shows and be sure to check out Deer Tick's current tour mate, Jonny Corndawg. If you ask nicely, I bet you can get him and John McCauley to shotgun, respectively, a bottle of water and a beer and see who wins. Take care everyone!

A LONG-WINDED UPDATE: ALL THINGS AWESOME
August 5th. 2009.

Hey Partisan faithful, it's time for an update of mass proportions!

First of all, Deer Tick has just finished the first leg of their tour and it went off without a hitch. But if you missed them this summer, fear not, they will soon be heading out for a fall tour. You can check out all those dates; with the likes of The Hold Steady, Johnny Corndawg, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and a BOOZE CRUISE, at the shows section of the site for more info.

Second, since the release of Born on Flag Day, the positive reviews have kept on coming, and the release of the new single "Smith Hill" has only increased the bands visibility, especially at this year's Newport Folk Festival. Check out a few of our favorite pieces from the band's home state:
NPR Stream of Deer Tick's performance here
Spin Magazine's 7 best moments from Newport here
The Providence Journal's review of the festival here

Third, be on the lookout for Sirius/XM in studio performances to air August 10-14th @ 10-11 A.M. and August 19th at 9 P.M.

That's all for now, take care everyone and hopefully we will see you all at the FREE show at Prospect Park this weekend, with a special surprise in store for all those who attend. Get your dancin' boots on!

DEER TICK "WAR ELEPHANT" VINYL UPDATE
November 11th. 2008.

For those of you who ordered vinyl, we regret to inform you that we are still awaiting the vinyl from the plant. We have been told by our manufacturer that this is due to the recent surge in the popularity of vinyl, along with the closing of a major LP manufacturing plant. We were also told that this hold up has caused numerous other vinyl releases to be up to 6 weeks late (including some pretty major ones). Rest assured though, our order has been bumped to the front of the line. So, vinyl is on the way. We will notify you the moment we receive the vinyl, and will package and ship it out to you the very same day, even if it means a late night of drinking and shipping on our part. We also plan to include something special to make up for the error.

SO, hopefully you'll understand the situation. We're just as bummed as you are, but will work our hardest to get Deer Tick vinyl to you in the coming weeks. Please feel free to contact us here with any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Ian and Tim
